Jenny is a Gardening Advisor for the Royal Horticultural Society and member of the Garden Media Guild. She has written and indeed, writes for a number of magazines and newspapers including ‘Garden Inspirations’, ‘Amateur Gardening’, ‘The Lady’, the RHS ‘Garden’ magazine and the gardening section of the Saturday Telegraph. She also writes and edits some of the advice pages of the RHS’s website.
Jenny is on hand as a panellist at question and answer sessions at Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows and anywhere that needs horticultural answers. Much of her time is taken up answering RHS members' enquiries by email, by telephone, by post and in person at Wisley and at RHS shows.
After finishing her training at Wisley Gardens, Jenny worked on a freelance basis, designing and maintaining gardens in the Surrey Hills for 10 years. At the same time, weekends were spent at the RHS Wisley Plant Centre advising customers on the 'right plants for the right places' and how to diagnose and deal with plant pests and diseases. Groups such as horticultural societies welcome Jenny’s knowledge when she presents talks and demonstrations.
Jenny’s own garden in Churt in the Surrey Hills continues to develop, alongside the rabbit population and in spite of the sandy heathland soil. After much earth moving and preparation, the vegetables are safe behind fencing, and borders are now beginning to flourish.
